Teen Titans Go

If there's one thing I learned is that the word “Spinoff” is a double edged sword. On one hand it can be a treat to the fans of original piggy backing off an already successful product. Or it can be a blatant cash in job for series that's been off the air for a while and is SO BAD that it has the fans clamoring for DVDs and digital re-releases of the original. Just guess what camp Teen Titans GO! Is in......?

Characters – Full stop I have to dwell on how much they fuck up Cyborg and Beast Boy. In the original Cyborg was the techie trying to keep the tower standing, fixing equipment, and overall just keeping everything in ship shape. He's also a personal favorite character because he's a half man half machine trying to sort out a world he feels he can't fit into. Beast Boy was a likable character who had his own episodes where he'd take responsibility. The comic relief that is actually more helpful than annoying. We get.....barely any of that in the spinoff. Instead they both share a brain often, get into antics, and just act really out of character. Most of the time they're either shitting all over my childhood or annoying everyone else. Remember how Cyborg will bend over backwards to keep the tower in maintenance.....now he willingly wrecks it because HAHAHA COMEDY!!! As for everyone else what's there to say Robin is the more of the same with a little smug self importance thrown in, Raven's a pegasister and used for Tara Strong and MLP jokes losing most of her identity, and Starfire's naive and gullible personalities are amped up to eleven.

Plots – The plots are all over the place and are exactly what I expected from a show consisting of sugar high characters that never shut the fuck up. GONE is the whimsical and serious nature of the original Teen Titans because who the heck needs that when we can have HILAROUS hijinks all the time. BLAH BLAH BLAH it's a kids show Metro is what most people have told me. Well maybe I think kids can handle dark and serious stories which is the reason why I raise an eyebrow every time someone throws a bitch fit because the “Archie Sonic comics are too dark wahhhhhh!”

I think it's more insulting when you think the poor sods should grow up in the same emotionless, sheltered world you lived in. No.....no I know what the problem is with modern cartoons it's the fact that parents couldn't give to shits about what their kids watch as long as it doesn't show a disabled or gay person right. Lets have an episode to where the characters say “WAFFLES!” over and over and over and over until your brain tries to mercy kill itself. Laughs or how about an episode that downright
DESTROYS the original. You remember when they were showcasing this and the creators said “We haven't seen much of the show.” Yeah.....NOWHERE is that more green lighted than in “Staring at the future”. Basically take a good episode like “How long is forever” view it on face value rather than the actually meaning, dump some of the most shameful, dull, insulting fanservice on it that comes off as backhanding its own fanbase and there you go.

Conclusion – The main reason why I'm so critical of this is the same problems a lot of people have with Elder Scrolls Online...and that is the name “Teen Titans” Go! If it were its own IP then it'd be at the very least decent but this feels like the toddler titans than the Teen Titans just another blatant cash in by studio hacks because making something original is HARD so lets get two people who've never seen the original show to make a spinoff. The fact that this is a spinoff was enough to drive most people away but HEY....I did give it a chance right?

I heard that the people who made this actually watched the old show but didn't give two sh¡ts about it obviously.
