Sonic BOOM! impressions

I think it's about time to spread my thoughts on Sonic BOOM! Sega's latest reveal of a new Game and suprisingly show.

Briefly I just want to say that they seem to be.....pretty ambitious about this. As mentioned aboved, they're making a show to piggy back off of the game. I'm seeing alot of work coming from Big Red Button considering most of them did work on Jak and Daxter and Crash Bandicoot Games. So i'm going to be dividing this into sections by categories so let's get started

---Design

Sonic: to me looks fine though I'm not the one to care as long as it looks vaguely "Sonic". The scarf I guess to me looks cool I don't understand why people are so up and arms about these things. I'm always a fan of the whole desert, steampunk like vibe with characters so scarfs...don't bother me

Tails: And here's where the problems arise. Ok it's no secret that sonic games had always revolved around the Blue Blur but his friends had a role to. I know some peopl don't like the others and I'll agree.....some characters are annoying and useless (FUCKING CREAM!!!). But you understand how boring it is to hit the same notes of: Play as Sonic, get the chaos emeralds, beat Robotnik, everybody's ok, the end. even mario games mix it up because playing as one character quickly gets old. So enough rambling...I think Tails' new design sucks not because of the look but because of what it represents: a character stereotype. This makes him seem like Sonic X Tails where he does nothing but fix things and be the  over all Intellegent one.

Knuckles: Knux Knux Knux.......what did they do to you. The same problem as tails really a stereotype of what the character is. Knuckles had always been the most interesting character to me because he actually had a back story *suprised gasp!* I know right! But.they.SQUANDERED it in Sonic Adventure and from then on it's left forgettened and abandoned. Even the Master Emerald, a pivotal plot point to some, isn't even relevant any more. Hell ANGEL FREAKING ISLAND is no longer in the continuity as far as we know. But knuckles nowadays is just what Big the Cat used to be: a big oaf to serve as comic relief much to his own misery. Knuckles is just the big character that puches shit....that is all

Amy: Never really bought into her. She never really interest me in the slightest and only served to get in the way and screw up things. Sorry Sorry SO SORRY Amy fans but my looking glass sees things differently and what I see is a fanbrat who just so happened to be dragged into whatever plot goes on in the games. Archie Sonic handles her better in my opini- there I go rambling again. But I want to lead off by saying that the idea of making her a better female character to appeal to a female auidence doesn't sit up straight to me. for one I don't think it'll work without flanderizing the characte and making her worse and two why......the game doesn't need a "female character to pander to another audience" because I think the franchise already has a better character to fit the bill but you ignore her like the rest. Lastly it's good to see Mr.Pollock as Eggman I really don't care about everybody else but I might go Rabid sonic fan if he is dropped as Eggman's voice actor

---Sonic Boom! (TV Show)

So...around the time I watched the Game trailer I watched the tv trailer as well. It was a two minute interlude of an episode (I assume the first) showing off the personalities (lack thereof) of Sonic, Tails and Robotnik/Eggman (which ever you prefer). Sonic......Well a user by the name of Vorahk295 did a simliar list and I might not agree with everything he said (that and because he's also a member of that dysfuntional fuckwit of a club Anti-Archie Sonic) but he said "Even in the games, he's become more of a caricature of himself now."
This I agree on but he then states that this is the sonic he actually likes which is the opposite for me because I like archie Sonic better. Say what you want your opinion is yours but I think Comic Sonic has the better fit personality while Sega Sonic is currently stuck in that 90s cool kid attitude that worked back then but it's 2014 TIME FOR A CHANGE. Now I do agree that Archie Sonic can be a little...prick and assholeish but when I hear "Ian flynn made Sonic a jerk NOW HE'S A DEMON WAHHHHHHH!" I can't help but to think how even more arrgoant he is in the games making cringe worthy humor and over just seems like that douchebag at a party.

---Sonic Boom! the Game

The gameplay is taking a more....open vibe. Enviornments look beautiful and well sculpted to give that cartoon feel actually reminescent of Jak and Daxter and Crash. I do think this is where Sega just said "fuck it" because you got several base of Sonic fans wanting Exploration, Speed, or the focus on Sonic's friends so they just threw their hands in the air and said "GIVE THEM EVERYTHING". By the look of things it will be 4 player coop with the ability to switch to anyone in the party Lego Star Wars style.

---Other Info

There are romours roaming around about other charcter besides the main cast being in the game. I've seen leaked artwork of Marine the Racoon (OH PLEASE GOD NO!), Shadow, Rouge....and that's pretty much it. There are other rumors of Archie character being present but as far as I'm concern just as these other rumors....they're fake.

---Conclusion

Not really hyped but not really down putting the game either. Just hoping that this'll be a fresh break because Lost World was meet with a lukewarm reception due it's sudden shift in style and almost pure experimental gameplay(which I kinda agree on). but let's just wait and see
